He died from injuries, sustained the previous day, after falling from his horse and being dragged "some distance".
The Revolutionary War pension files list: "W14845, MA line, Soldier"
She was 94 years of age at her death. She applied for pension benefits under her husbands name Apr 7, 1837 In Hillsborough Co., NH and she was a resident of Peterborough, NH in 1837.
(02) Samuel HADLEY:
Samuel served under Capt. John Parker. Samuel was on of a small group of men that stood at Concord, MA on April 19, 1775. Shots were fired between these men and British soldiers. Samuel was hit by the volley that ensued and was the first to die in what was to be the first battle of the American Revolution.
According to the book "Paul Revere's Ride" by David Hackett Fischer, oxford university Press, page 197,
".......they were ordered to disperse. Samuel Hadley and John Brown were shot while running from the Common. Hadley's body was found near the edge of a nearby swamp."
